Motorbike taxi: why proper passenger gear makes all the difference

On a motorbike, the passenger has no bodywork around them: their gear is what protects them. On a motorbike taxi you shouldn't have to think about it, but it helps to know what is compulsory and what makes the difference.

What French law requires of the passenger

  • An approved helmet, for the rider and the passenger.
  • CE-certified motorcycle gloves, compulsory since 20 November 2016 for the rider and the passenger. Without gloves, the fine is €68 for each of them, and the rider loses one licence point.

The authorities also recommend suitable clothing: jacket, trousers and closed shoes.

What we provide

You don't need to bring anything. Every passenger gets:

  • a Rev'it Avertum Street Tech-Air airbag vest (electronic trigger, CE EN 1621-4 standard);
  • a Shoei Neotec 3 modular helmet, ECE 22.06 approved, with the Shoei SRL-3 intercom to talk with the rider;
  • CE EN 13594 certified Alpinestars gloves;
  • a jacket suited to the weather, including an EN 17092 certified waterproof jacket for rainy days;
  • a leg apron that covers your legs against rain and cold;
  • a disposable hair cap to wear under the helmet and hand sanitiser.

Our tip

For your ride, just wear closed shoes. Everything else is provided and adjusted before departure.
